Aosta - base · 568 m

Aosta is a valley base for a ski trip to Pila, rather than the name of a piste network within the city. The Aosta–Pila gondola connects the town with the mountain resort at around 1,800 m. Staying below and travelling up by lift means the weather for your accommodation and the weather for your skiing need to be read separately.

Pila's terrain includes learning areas at Baby Gorraz and Grimod, with further skiing in the Chamolé and Couis sectors. The operator describes a network of about 70 km of pistes extending to roughly 2,700 m. Check the current ski map and opening report for the sections suited to your day, rather than treating the total distance as available terrain.

This Aosta forecast starts at 568 m. A rain symbol or mild temperature here does not establish what is happening on Pila's slopes more than a kilometre higher. Use the map to select the mountain location and its elevation, then compare its temperature, precipitation and freezing level with the lower forecast. This is especially important when planning both the journey and time on snow.

Before using the gondola, confirm the operator's current timetable and return arrangements. Weather data do not establish whether the lift is running, and a high-altitude snowfall forecast says nothing by itself about the condition of the road or pavements in Aosta.
